Dear Subscribers to the Parish of the Holy Cross Parish Website,
Over the past months, announcements from the pulpit at Mass, pop-ups on the website, as well as parish announcements on the website itself, have requested that you subscribe to the parish website in order to be able to receive email notices from the parish for purposes of sending you important urgent parish Information such as emergency closures and emergency situations that may impact you and your attendance at the parish church and offices.
This was a necessary first step in the ongoing updating of the website to provide you with information about the parish and allow Fr. Michael and members of the Parish Staff to inform you of needed information. Information about parish website subscriptions also alluded to a new upcoming Parish Membership Login Feature which will be added to the website soon.
The purpose of this new Parish Membership Login Feature is to allow parish members the ability to access certain private parish webpages which may contain names, addresses, phone numbers & possibly other contact information of parishioners who serve in ministry here at the parish. For example, the Ministry Schedule webpage which is currently open for all public viewing on the website will now become a private parish webpage, to be only viewed by those with a Parish Membership. This new feature will allow those in ministry to be able to contact each other within the ministry itself using listed phone numbers, email addresses, etc. should, for example, a schedule change become necessary. This will allow a greater ability for the minister to make changes and to find coverage for their personal changes in the schedule. This is just one example of the use of having Private Membership Webpages.
Obviously, utilizing this feature helps in privacy protection, since this information will no longer be open to public viewing. As a Parish Member, you will always have the choice as to whether to post your information in its entirety, partially, or not at all. You will continue to always have the opportunity to contact the office or a member of the parish staff, as you may do now, should you prefer not to have a Parish Member Login.
This leads to the question, “Can anyone obtain a Parish Membership Login?” The short answer is “No… not everyone.” It becomes obvious that this information should be “limited” to be accessible by only those involved in ministry in the parish. This information is not of any benefit to others generally. So… here are the limitations in requesting a Parish Membership Login. In order to qualify as a Parish Member on the parish website…
• You must have already Subscribed to the parish website.
• You must be a Registered Parishioner that is registered with the parish office.
• You must have joined and be involved in a specific parish ministry that would necessitate viewing the website member pages for related information pertaining to the ministry.
Once you are verified,
• Your Email will become your Username.
• You will then be requested by email to set up a Password in order to log into the website member pages.
PLEASE NOTE that this login will be a granted login which could be changed or revoked at any time as necessitated by the related parish ministry… for example, if you should leave a ministry and no longer be involved in any ministry in the parish.
REMEMBER… You will not need to log in each time you access the parish website in order to access the member pages as long as…
• You continue to use the same device and have not logged out of that device.
• If you use another device, you will need to log in again to access the member pages. But… again, if you don’t log out of that device… you won’t have to re-enter your login information.
In order for us to update parish information and begin this crucial next step in providing Member pages on the website, we ask that ALL PARISHIONERS WHO MAYBE SOON OR ARE INVOLVED IN MINSTRY HERE AT THE PARISH, click the link below and answer a few questions as to whether you are, or plan to be involved in ministry at the parish and whether you will be considering applying for a Parish Membership Login. The link will direct you to an online parish form which will allow you to submit your responses to this short survey. This will help everyone here the ability to sort out membership requests. If you know of any parishioners who have not subscribed to the website and would benefit from having a Parish Website Membership as well, please pass on this information to them.
Should you have any further questions, please email Vince, our Parish Webmaster, with those questions at the email address: webmaster.hcrcc@gmail.com and he will try to answer them as soon as possible. We thank you in advance for your cooperation in helping us with this matter.
Everyone here at the Parish of the Holy Cross is excited to offer you this new website feature and we look forward to more new website possibilities such as filling out parish forms & registering for parish events... all digitally possible from the continuously updated & growing parish website.
God Bless & Peace!
Fr. Michael
& The Parish Staff
